Christmas 2007 in Salt Lake

It was great to visit loved ones and have the excitement of Christmas this year in Salt lake. Katie and I have been married for two years and this is our first Christmas with family.
When we made the trek from Vegas to Salt Lake, we hit a nasty snow storm. We only have a two-wheel drive car, but we did not get stuck at all on the way up. We did have a 20 min stop in the road near Beaver due to the big rig trucks stopping. We finally make it up and over the the hill going around the big rigs in the snow.

Oh yea, we also had an electrical snow storm on the way up too. We had all kinds of static electricity around our car and around the front windshield- it was a little crazy for part of the drive.

Here are a few highlights from Christmas!

Golden Trout Wilderness

July 18-21 the Brooks brothers went out on a search for the "most beautiful" trout the golden. We stared out in Las Vegas and as always, we had to make a few stops. The first stop was to REI for one item and the next stop was to the Bass pro shop for another; however, we managed to leave town around the time we thought we would. After the four an half hour drive to Golden trout wilderness, we arrived at the south fork of the Kern and pitched our tents in the dark (Dad had his own tent as he tends to snore and keeps everyone up.). In the morning we were able to find the river, sadly we found out the river over the last five years has suffered a lot of drought so the river was very low and we didn't have any luck in the river. We decided if we were going to catch any Golden's we needed a new river. We got a hot tip about 9 mile creek, and headed there. We hike in about 5-6miles with 3000ft drop. When we found ourselves away from civilization we were able to catch some really nice Golden's.All brothers and dad were able to catch one too.
